Adam R Sweet

Adam R Sweet has been playing the fiddle since he was a teenager. A classically trained violinist, he attended the New England Conservatory of Music studying violin, performance, chamber music coaching and conducting. Sweet spent summers at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music studying masters such as Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Mendellsohn, Schubert, Milhaud and Borodin. Later, in College, Sweet joined Pieces of Neck, a bluegrass band, and toured western Mass, playing for concerts, bluegrass festivals and parties. After College, he opened his first music studio at the Fretted Instrument Workshop in Amherst to offer private lessons on mandolin and fiddle, before being hired by the Northampton Community Music Center in 1997. Sweet taught mandolin and fiddle there, often leading Celtic sessions and master classes until 2007, when he was hired by Hilltown Charter Schools to teach 7th and 8th grade Music and Composition. In 2009, Sweet opened his studio in South Hadley and began teaching out of his house and online, where he offers private lessons today. Sweet has toured Ireland, Europe, Canada, Egypt, China and the Americas, playing music with Fiddle Hill, a dance band, Yiddishkeit Klezmer, a Jewish wedding ensemble, and Celticado.
